Anna Maria Island and Longboat Key, Manatee and Sarasota Counties

    Residential, Commercial, and Investment Property

I am a results-driven real estate broker (first licensed in 1972) with a long history of successfully helping buyers and sellers complete residential and commercial real estate transactions.

You may search here for real estate in the territory that I know best: Anna Maria Island and Longboat Key, and Sarasota, Bradenton, and Cortez on the mainland. If you have any difficulty using the form that I have linked for you, please be immediately in touch with me.

I am a twenty-six-year resident of Anna Maria Island.First licensed in New York State in 1972, I became a Florida Licensed Real Estate Broker in 1998. My broker licenses are active in Florida and New York under my full name, Thomas C. Aposporos. In addition to early education in the real estate profession (and teaching an approved curriculum for Commercial Real Estate at the college level), I hold the following designations from the National Association of REALTORS:

    ABR (Accredited Buyer's Representative)

    PSA (Property Strategy Advisor)

I also hold the designation, CPC (Certified Professional Commercial), for completed training by Commercial Real Estate Adviors LLC.

At 27, I became the youngest elected Mayor of Poughkeepsie, New York, and served an unprecedented four terms. On two occasions since the 1980s, I was appointed the city’s Acting Development Director, responsible for the city's planning, zoning, and development functions.

In the 1990s, I was Chairman of the Board of Progressive Bank, Inc. (a publicly owned company), helping the company prosper during a turbulent time in the banking and real estate industries.

My public life in Florida includes service as a City Commissioner on Anna Maria, and from 2009 through 2012, I served as Chief Executive of the Longboat Key Chamber of Commerce. I am a co-founder (along with former Longboat Mayor Jim Brown and the late Longboat Vice Mayor Dave Brenner) of the initial Longboat Key Foundation, whose work benefited Longboat's residents and visitors. I further served as a member of Longboat Key's Revitalization Task Force which has championed appropriate planning and development for the island. (This was an honor for me as a non-Longboat resident.)

My son, Thomas C. Aposporos, II, is my unlicensed real estate assistant. He is a graduate of the University of South Florida. Thomas is reachable at (941) 704 3399 and you may email him here.

I am a member of the Realtor Association of Sarasota and Manatee and Stellar MLS (previously called My Florida Regional Multiple Listing Service). You may search here for real estate. If you wish my assistance using this or any other search tool, contact me at (941) 704 4250. I will be pleased to help. In November 2022, I joined Team Duncan as a Broker Associate. My New York brokerage license remains a sole proprietorship.

You will find at the top of the page menu a reference to Theatre Odyssey, a Florida not-for-profit theater company that has produced over 300 new stage plays. I co-founded this company in 2006 and enjoy continued work with it. The arts are a significant contributor to the quality of all our lives. When we choose a home or a place for our work environment, proximity to a quality arts community is a fine and important element. The market area where I primarily work is made better by the individual and collective artists here.
